Read reports and analytics

Set your financial year start month, then review FY summary cards, the revenue vs expenses chart, and expandable monthly breakdowns.

Side menu item for Reports — Financial overview

Trueinvoice rebuilds report totals automatically when you create or update invoices and expenses, so Reports stays in sync with your day-to-day activity.

1. Set your financial year

Financial Year Starts In sheet in Settings

Reports are grouped by financial year, not only by calendar year. Set the start month so charts and totals match how you file taxes or close your books (for example April in the UK, or May as in the screenshot).

  1. Open the side menu → Settings.
  2. Under Company, tap Financial Year (subtitle: Start month for reports).
  3. In Financial Year Starts In, choose Start Month, then tap Save.

After you change it, open Reports again so the FY label and month range update (for example FY 2026–27 when the year starts in May).

2. Open Reports

Reports FY selector and summary cards

  1. Open the side menu → Reports.
  2. Use the arrows on the FY selector to move between financial years (for example FY 2026–27).
  3. Scan the summary cards for that year:
    • Revenue and Expenses
    • Net Profit (revenue − expenses)
    • Outstanding and Paid
    • Tax Collected

3. Chart and monthly breakdown

Monthly Revenue vs Expenses chart and Monthly Breakdown

Scroll down on the same screen for Monthly Revenue vs Expenses — green bars are revenue, red bars are expenses. Scroll the chart sideways when needed; tap a bar for a short tooltip with that month’s revenue, expenses, and net.

Open Monthly Breakdown and tap a month (for example May 2026). Each month shows invoice and expense counts, then:

  • Revenue, Expenses, and Net Profit
  • Paid, Outstanding, and Tax Collected
  • Invoice status counts: Draft, Sent, Partially Paid, and Paid

Months with no invoices or expenses show No activity.

Tips

  • Keep invoice statuses accurate — record payments or use Stripe — so Paid and Outstanding stay trustworthy.
  • Log expenses promptly so the red bars and expense totals are not understated.
  • Set the financial year start month once; change it only if your tax or accounting year changes.
